Can You Relate To This?

Can You Relate To This?

April 28, 20252 min read

I rewatched a favourite film at the weekend as I hadn’t seen it for a while. ‘The Founder’ - starring Michael Keaton. You may have seen it?

For those who haven’t - it tells the story of Ray Kroc and how he grew McDonalds from a single location in California owned by the McDonald brothers - to a sprawling empire across dozens of countries and billions of annual revenue. All before his passing in the 80’s.

But this week it’s not about the film - it’s more about the underlying theme of it.

That theme is ‘Persistence’.

There’s a great scene in the film where Michael Keaton reads a quote which is attributed to ex US President Calvin Coolidge:

Since the first time I heard it that quote has stuck with me. I absolutely believe it to be true.

How many successful people do you know who embody this?

And how many talented or intelligent people do you know who perhaps haven’t reached their full potential?

In my experience, persistence often separates those who succeed from those who don’t.

Persistence is what gets the business owner through the tough times, enabling them to find solutions where others are lost.

In my experience, it’s the action that actually creates results. Absorbing and learning is great - but if there is no implementation on the back of it, then you can’t make progress.

Every day I dedicate 60-90 minutes to work on my business. The things that will move me forwards. The things that will get me closer to my goal. My most successful clients do this too.

Doing this means that whatever else happens during the day doesn’t matter - because the most important things have already been taken care of.

I know persistence can feel tough, especially when the results don’t come right away. But it’s often the consistent effort that leads to breakthroughs.

Having the persistence to continue this through both the good times and the bad is what helps to motivate me.

I believe those who stay persistent are the ones who ultimately succeed.

I’d love to know - what’s one thing you’ve been persistent about in your business that’s paid off?

Let me know and have a great week.
