The 3 Stages of Business Growth

Today I want to talk about the 3 Stages of Business Growth (and how to break through them).

I remember sitting down last year with a client, let’s call him Lewis. Lewis had hustled his way to six figures (around £200k annual revenue at this point).

He’d put in the hours, made the sacrifices, and built a solid business.

But now, he was stuck.

No matter how hard he worked, his revenue had plateaued. He was frustrated. Almost burnt out.

And starting to wonder if this was as far as he could go.

Sound familiar?

You don't know what you don't know: The strategies that get you to one level of success aren’t the same strategies that will take you to the next.

I shared this with Lewis:

  • Your first £100k is about hustle. You’re wearing all the hats, saying yes to everything, and making it happen through sheer grit and determination.

  • Your first £500k is about systems. Hustle only gets you so far. To scale, you need systems. Processes that make your business run smoothly, even when you’re not there.

  • Your first £1m is about marketing and financial intelligence. At this level, it’s about working smarter, not harder. Investing in the right strategies. Knowing your numbers inside out. And using data to make decisions.

Lewis realised he was still operating like he was in the hustle stage, even though his business was ready for systems. That’s why he was stuck.

In the last few months we have been working together to implement systems that free up his time and allow his business to grow without him constantly grinding.

His revenue is climbing again.
