Thinking Strategically to Implement AI

Thinking Strategically to Implement AI

September 30, 20243 min read

AI is the talk of the town. Everywhere I go online I can't seem to escape it.

It's in my emails, my CRM, my to do list, my calendar, and seemingly every piece of software which I subscribe to is now introducing AI on some level.

But how should you bring it in to your business effectively? And not just for the sake of it?

I think there are two ways you can judge this for yourself, and the key thing is to measure the results you are getting.

This is something I do with my clients with everything we do, not just AI.

So here's my quick guide to Thinking Strategically to Implement AI.

Part 1: Improve Efficiency (without sacrificing quality)

AI is here to help us be more efficient. This might be with our time, with our resources, or with our staff.

Here are the best ways to measure how efficient AI is (or isn't) making you:

  1. Measure total output. Did I get more stuff done in a given amount of time? Did my team get more done in a given amount of time?

  2. Time taken to complete a task. Did it take less time from start to finish?

You can then look to measure the business outcomes:

  1. Have you increased your revenue per employee?

  2. Are you getting a high gross profit margin?

  3. Has your EBIT increased?

If you properly track the above metrics or similar, you will have some data upon which to base your decisions.

The important bit

If people play a role in the delivery of your product or service:

  • AI can increase capacity i.e. the number of customers served

  • AI can allow you to grow while maintaining a certain headcount

Part 2: Provide Additional Value

AI is now allowing us to give more value to our customers and clients. In the creative space this is allowing the creator to spend more time doing the things they love - creating! And this can be seen across a range of industries.

You can now look to increase the number of deliverables you can provide and hopefully with this, increase your pricing too!

Here are some business outcomes you can measure:

  1. Are you seeing increased or better results for clients?

  2. Has client retention improved?

  3. How has this affected your close rates?

  4. Is more revenue flowing in?

But there is one caveat here - the additional value or offering needs to be both congruent and complimentary to your core offering.

No point offering something with AI for the sake of it.

So where can you start? I would choose one of the following, as this is often the easiest:

  1. Eliminate admin

  2. Systemise your marketing - especially the follow up

Conclusion

AI absolutely can help you. And sadly those who don't even try will likely be left behind.

It can seem overwhelming, so I would love to help you.

That is why I have introduced the AI Implementor.

In this 1:1 half day workshop we will sit down together and look at you and your business. We will look at your processes, your systems, your customer journey. If AI can be introduced in a way which will potentially save you time, save you money or add value, we can then look to implement it there and then.
