This problem affects so many
I meet a never ending amount of business owners who are busy. It's super common.
But are they busy doing the right thing?
Well it depends what their goals are. If the goals are to grow the business, bring in new leads and convert more customers, then generally they aren't doing the right things.
90 Minutes a Day
I first heard about '90 minutes a day from Nigel Botterill' - some of you will know the name, and others will have met him.
The concept of 90 minutes a day is all about blocking out 90 minutes in your diary each and every working day.
In this time there is a distinction between what you do in it, and what you might spend the rest of your day doing.
In the 90 minutes you are solely focusing on working ON your business. Not IN it. Huge difference.
Why does it matter?
By making this distinction between working IN and working ON, you are saying that you want your business to grow and get closer to your goals, whatever they may be.
Working daily on high impact activities for your business will compound over time and the implications can be huge.
Most business owners spend their days putting out fires and responding to what comes at them. Instead, their time is much better spent driving that growth, at least for some time each day.
In the real world
This works. Seriously.
I have seen business owners double, triple, and in some cases quadruple their turnover. I have seen businesses come back from the brink to prosper, take on more staff and expand. Franchises have literally gone national by the franchisees working on their business for just 90 minutes a day. Consistently.
How to implement
Start by blocking some time out of your day. If you use an online calendar it's super easy to set up a recurring appointment with yourself.
Ensure this time slot can't be booked by anyone else. Make yourself totally unavailable to conflicts in this time.
Play to your strengths. We each work better at different times of the day. I work best in the evenings, so tend to do my 90 minutes at the end of the day. Many people like to do it first thing in the morning.
You also may still have roles in the business which you must do, and have to work around. Tip: your first few 90 minute sessions can be working towards getting you away from these, if that's what you ultimately want.
What next?
Try it out. Start tomorrow. The sooner the better.
A consistent, focused effort can make an incredible difference to your business.
